Happy new 2008/1984 and some news update
During the last few months we've made good progress towards a 0.3 release of openPMA. We still have not resolved all issues but are confident to do so soon.
Also the ARCwelder projectgave us a new twist and we're happy to now officially announce a long term project we've also been working on: openPMA-nextGeneration
We've got a wiki, mailing list and IRC-channel set up and are waiting for your contributions.
Generally it looks like we're going to see many interesting things this year! - So stay tuned!
wikiSpam precautions
Due to an exponential raise in wikiSpam we decided to take precautions. Anonymous editing of wiki pages is still possible but will require a simple captcha to be solved.
Users that have created an account and confirmed their email address shouldn't notice anything of this after logging in.
openPMA is here to stay for good!
We're very happy to see that besides having some issues the 0.2 release has nevertheless reached a very impressive download count of 1000 tonite! This gives us even more motivation to speed up towards an 0.2.1 release. Stay tuned for more information.
If you don't have it yet - go and grab it now!

musepack decoder
Now that it has been demonstrated how to write plugins for the PMA's media players, yet another audio format has been brought to the PMA: musepack. Get the musepack plugin here and the source here. The installation instructions are the same as for the ogg/vorbis plugin below.
ogg/vorbis decoder
Finally something many of us have waited for! A new audio decoder for the PMA!
A friendly guy named Matthias Welwarsky has written an plugin enabling the pma to play ogg/vorbis files using the Tremor library.
To ogg-enable your PMA you'll just have to install the ipkg and restart qtopia. The plugin won't be enabled before you restart either qtopia or the whole operating system.
openPMA 0.1 RC1
openPMA 0.1 RC1 is currently being evaluated by our fine crew of testers. We hope to release openPMA 0.1 to the public in two weeks if tests don't show important bugs.
call for testers
We're getting close to the first release of openPMA (v0.1)
All PMA owners willing to help are kindly requested to apply as beta testers. Shortly there will be a release candidate and we need to find out what bugs are still there.
Please send your application as a beta tester by email to "tester-applications" at openpma.org - if you feel like it go ahead and add some words why you'd like to be a beta tester.
note: we're sorry, but at the moment we can't accept more beta testers because we are in the middle of the testing process

- Important note: Those files show what might be possible with Opie, but are very limited. E.g. multimedia apps can only be started from the commandline. There are no plans to implement a working Opie on short hand!
Public mailing lists will be available shortly. If you want to get notified, send us an email. If you want to join us, send an email, too.
