[edit] What is an "aimage"?

An "aimage" is the firmware file of the PMA430. If you want to know more about this gadget, you'll find some information on the producers' website: http://www.archos.com

[edit] Changing the Firmware

To change the "aimage" file, and therefore also the firmware, you will need to hack the bootloader of the PMA first. You can do this either manually (instructions on http://www.pointlisse.com/PMA430/) or automatically by using the the ".ipk" installation script provided on the same site.

[edit] Future developments

In the future, it might be possible to develop a bootmanager, making it possible to have two or more firmwares on the hard drive at the same time and to actually chose which one you want to launch.
